ISABEL Lucas doesn’t fit the movie star mould in the sense that she’d prefer to fly under the radar than present herself with the carpet fanfare of many Hollywood actors.
Fresh-faced after a month travelling around India, the former Home and Away actor dealt directly with Confidential rather than having her minders and management do the work for her. And she refreshingly wore no make-up, with her hair out as she took a break from a table read for her new film Chasing Comets.
“I am so appreciative for having such rich and varied experiences, ” she said. “Being able to spend the last month in India was very enriching and I loved it. I appreciate being able to live in LA, but there’s nothing like being able to come home and work.”
Lucas, 32, signed on for the female lead after former footballer-turned-script writer and producer Jason Stevens reached out to her. She began work on the film on Saturday. Production continues in Sydney and Wagga Wagga over the next month. She plays the character of Brooke to Dan Ewing’s lead role of Chase.
“I just thought it would be fun and I love working on Australian projects and working here in general, ” she said. “And Jason Perini (director) is taking a really unique spin on a footy film with a very artistic take on it, which I find exciting.” Stan Walker, Havana Brown, Rhys Muldoon and George Houvardas are all in the comedy drama, with cameos from Brendan Fevola and Beau Ryan.
