ECO warrior Isabel Lucas is slowly but surely making her way up Africa’s highest summit — Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Lucas, along with a star-studded group of volunteers including Jessica Biel (with Lucas left), Emile Hirsch and Lupe Fiasco, reached the 4500m mark of the 5800m challenge yesterday and the Transformers starlet revealed she was starting to get nervous just a day ahead of her attempt to climb the summit. ‘‘It’s very enlightening, but very scary, ’’ she wrote on Twitter. ‘‘We experienced all the forms of precipitation today . . . Mt Kili snowfields are in view, impressive and scary.’’ The climbers are expected to suffer considerable discomfort on their trek, including shortness of breath, hypothermia and headaches. But Lucas, whose new film, Daybreakers, has received positive reviews, has trained for months for the feat. Actress Biel said spirits were high among the climbers. ‘‘It has been really fun . . . an incredible experience, ’’ she said.
