THE parents of Isabel Lucas yesterday backed the Cairns starlet’s decision to spearhead a television campaign for radical protest group Sea Shepherd.
The group crewed Ady Gil, the $2 million trimaran involved in a dramatic clash with a security ship shadowing the Japanese whaling fleet about 2300km south of Tasmania on Wednesday. Lucas, who lived in Cairns as a teenager, is a passionate supporter of the controversial protest group’s activities. She will appear in a television commercial asking people to donate and support the organisation, Sea Shepherd Australian director Jeff Hansen said. Andrew Lucas told The Weekend Post his family backed the Transformers star’s decision to give herself to the campaign despite the incident sparking diplomatic tensions.
“Our family fully support her decision to do these things, ” Mr Lucas said. Last year the Hollywood star enlisted in conservationists’ controversial Battle of the Coral Sea. Lucas added her weight to the campaign with the former Home and Away actress calling on people to make a protected marine park “happen” in the Coral Sea off Cairns
