TAKING a flight of fancy in a fabulously feathered gown with a $16,000 pricetag, down-toearth actress Isabel Lucas is looking forward to seeing everything Melbourne Spring Fashion Week has to offer. Striking a pose in the Rachel Gilbert design, the 31-year-old face of the festival is also excited to be discovering new talents at Sunday’s Emerging RMIT Runway, where creations by students including South Australian-born Stephanie Henly will be on parade.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the student runway, ” former Home and Away star Isabel, who is based in LA, tells Confidential. “It’s a wonderful idea to showcase emerging designers.” But first there’s the festival’s opening night where Isabel will join Vogue Australia editor in chief Edwina McCann at the official launch of the Vogue Fashion Night Out before sitting front row at the Emporium Runway with her mum Beatrice.
“We will have a bit of mother-daughter shopping time, ” Isabel says, adding: “A lot of the designers I am wearing (during the festival) are ethical and sustainable.” MSFW starts today and runs until September 2.
