ACTOR Isabel Lucas will be announced today as the face of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in September. The Melbourne-born beauty, who first made her name in Home and Away before starring in movies Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Daybreakers and most recently Careful What You Wish For, has returned home from her LA base to launch the glamour event. Despite her high-flying Hollywood lifestyle, Lucas says Melbourne is her real home and sanctuary. “I grew up here and have spent every Christmas except two here. My mum and dad live in the Yarra Valley, my soul is here, ” she says.
Well known for her environmental activism, Lucas says she is keen to support local designers featuring during the festival, particularly those with a social conscience. “It’s important to support brands that have good ethics, ” she says. Lucas hopes to stay in Melbourne until MSFW kicks off on August 26. “I’m going to be attending as many shows as I can. I’m really excited about the event, ” she says. “It’s fun trying on a pretty frock and a smack of lipstick.” Lord Mayor Robert Doyle will announce program details of MSFW at the RMIT Design Hub this morning.
